Testimonial: Teaching Reading to Confined Youth

Many years ago, I volunteered to teach the SoundEnglish program at the Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles, Illinois, where I lived at the time.  I was allowed to teach the program to a classroom of nine high-school age boys, as the facility housed only males. I worked with the boys twice a week for nine weeks.  After I completed the teaching sessions, I requested an evaluation of the results from the administrator, Jacquelyn Gonzales. She emailed it to me a few days later; it is posted below. I have removed the heading on the email to avoid sharing personal information.
